Also known as Petite Sirah, these thick-skinned black grapes produce majestic wines of depth and character. With his many years of experience with this variety, Adam is one of the few winemakers who dare to plant it in the cooler climate.
Grown on our Hard Hill Road vineyard in Great Western, these Durif grapes were carefully fermented in small tanks and barrels where, apart from a daily hand-plunge, they received very little intervention.
After about three weeks on skins, the wine was gently pressed before being aged in 500L American puncheons for 18 months.
Warm, generous and aromatic. Cassis, blueberries, anise, violets and rose petals; with elegant tannins providing a remarkably long and lively finish.
Already showing a wonderfully gregarious personality, this Durif will evolve and gain further complexity and elegance over decades in the cellar.
